Scots star Lewis Capaldi has spread some special festive cheer to young patients at Glasgow’s children’s hospital.

The singing sensation stopped off for the Christmas treat, organised by Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, during a packed schedule of live shows as part of his latest tour.

Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity supports nearly 200,000 babies, children and young people treated each year at the children’s hospital – and patients couldn’t hide their shock when they were surprised by chart-topping Capaldi.

His visit is just one of a number of festive surprises organised by the charity to help make the Christmas season as special as possible for the young patients undergoing treatment at the hospital.

It follows the Christmas lights switch-on, courtesy of John Lewis and Waitrose advert star Ruby Dailly, earlier this month.

During his visit, Capaldi said: “I had a lovely day with Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, meeting some of the kids at the children’s hospital in Glasgow and spending time with them.

“Being in hospital at Christmas must be so hard for kids and their families, so it was really special to be asked along to surprise a few of them.”

Chief executive of Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, Shona Cardle, said: “It certainly felt like Christmas came early when Lewis visited our young patients.

“They were so excited and absolutely thrilled to meet Lewis, and we cannot thank him enough for taking time out of his very busy schedule to make some Christmas wishes come true.

“At Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity we work hard to make Christmas magical for the children who will spend Christmas in hospital. Our programme of events, visits and surprises will ensure that these children and their families won’t miss out on the fun and excitement of the festive season.”
