There are no specific pre-requisites for our anaphylaxis courses. We offer anaphylaxis training courses ranging from Level 1 to Level 3. You can select the most appropriate courses depending on your specific job role and employer requirements.

Please note that online anaphylaxis courses cover theory aspects. If you work in a patient facing/clinical environment, we highly recommend that you also attend classroom based courses where you will be assessed on the relevant practical aspects.

***Please check with your employer regarding the specific anaphylaxis course you should complete/attend. The Mandatory Training Group will not accept any responsibility if you select the wrong anaphylaxis training course.

What is anaphylaxis?

“Anaphylaxis is a potentially severe allergic reaction which attacks the immune system. Your whole body is affected, usually within minutes of contact with an allergen but sometimes the reaction can take place hours later. In serious cases can also lead to death”

Why is anaphylaxis training course important?

All nurses and health care workers  who deal with adults and children in hospital and community settings should complete anaphylaxis awareness training as part of their basic life support or first aid training.

Health care and social care staff should be able to confidently identify serious allergic reactions, administer adrenaline treatment (using adrenaline auto-injectors such as Epipen, Jext and Emerade), know when to call for help and administer effective CPR where required.

Anaphylaxis Training – meeting employers’ legal obligations

The Mandatory Training Group’s anaphylaxis training courses help UK employers and employees alike to fulfil the legislative and regulatory obligations. Our anaphylaxis training courses provide the essential knowledge and understanding to improve the quality of life for patients and other service users.

Do I need to do separate ‘Epipen training’?

Most nurses routinely give intra-muscular and other injections as part of their role. However, if you have a patient facing role, it is recommended that you are fully competent to safely administer Epipen, Jext and Emerade adrenaline injectors. Some may refer to this as ‘Epipen training’ – however, you should also be familiar with Jext and Emerade because they work the same as Epipen.

In most cases, you can complete the online anaphylaxis training course, then get ‘signed off’ by your supervisor or line manager once you have been assessed for safe use of Epipen, Jext and Emerade auto-injectors.
